Socrates said simply that ethics is the study of how best to live. It involves both theories and practices, but most important your life. Ethics is sometimes referred to as practical philosophy, hopefully helping you to think more clearly and live more deeply. It can involve the big questions of life--such as are there any universal rules or guidelines--to the more practical such as how do I make a decision about what to do with my life. The cartoon below illustrates both the down to earth practical dimensions and the theoretical questions.
