This course examines the advanced principles and practices of criminal investigation. Topics covered include obtaining sources of information, interviewing and interrogation, crime scene investigation to include forensic evidence collection, report writing, search & arrest warrants and courtroom preparation.  The student will use material learned in Soc 253 (Basic Criminal Investigations) and apply it in this class through introduction of a mock exercise which evolves from introduction of a hypothetical crime.  As part of the exercise the student will be expected to use their knowledge and skills to develop action plans, conduct interviews and gather probable cause to produce valid search and arrest warrants. Students will be graded based on their demonstrated abilities to produce quality work
